A handful of squares light up on a grid, hold for a moment, and disappear. Your job is to tap every one of them back. Get it right and the next level adds another square β€” and every few levels the grid itself grows, from 3Γ—3 all the way out to 7Γ—7, so the same number of tiles gets harder to place.

You have three lives. Level 1 asks for three squares and feels trivial. Level 10 asks for twelve, scattered over a 6Γ—6 grid, and does not feel trivial at all. Free, no download, works on any phone or desktop, and your best five runs are saved on your device.

Why chunking beats concentrating

Visual working memory is usually measured at somewhere around three to four objects held at once β€” far fewer than most people expect, and well short of the ten or twelve squares this game will eventually throw at you. The reason players get past that ceiling isn't better raw memory. It's chunking: the brain stores one structured shape more cheaply than several loose items.

So stop reading the grid as dots. Read it as geometry β€” "a triangle top-left, a pair on the right edge". Three squares become one object, and you've spent one slot instead of three. It's the same trick that lets chess players recall a whole board from a real game but not a randomly scattered one: structure is what gets stored, and a position that means nothing costs full price.

The second trick is the edges. Corner and border tiles are anchored by the frame around them, so they're cheaper to remember than a tile floating in the middle. When a pattern is one square over your limit, drop the anchored one from active rehearsal and trust that you'll recognise it.
