Typing Test — a free 60-second WPM test in your browser
How fast do you really type? This free typing test gives you sixty seconds with common English words and returns the two numbers that matter: WPM (words per minute) and accuracy. The timer starts on your first keystroke, live stats update as you go, and your personal best is saved on your device.
No download, no sign-up, no essay about a fox jumping over a dog — just clean words and a clock. Retest whenever you like; typing speed improves surprisingly fast with a few minutes of daily practice.
What's a good typing speed?
- Under 30 WPM — hunt-and-peck territory; touch typing will change your life.
- 30–50 WPM — around the global average.
- 50–80 WPM — comfortable professional speed.
- 80–120 WPM — fast; most programmers and writers live here.
- 120+ WPM — competitive typist. Show-off.
How WPM is calculated
The standard formula counts every 5 correct characters as one "word", divided by elapsed minutes — so long words count for more than short ones, and errors don't inflate your score. Accuracy is correct words as a share of all words you submitted.
